Overview

Items available for purchase on the kiosk may at times include items that are charged by weight. Such items must first be weighed prior to being added to the order.

Tare Items

Some items may need to be placed in a container prior to being weighed. Containers will add extra weight to the item which must be subtracted from the total weight. The process of subtracting the container weight from the total item weight is referred to as tare.

When placing an order, customers must indicate the container used, so that the kiosk can accurately subtract the weight of the container. Container items are referred to as Tare Items. These items will appear as Option Items associated to the weighable menu item.

Summary of Process

The following outlines the process in which the item will be selected and weighed on the kiosk.

The desired weighable item is selected from the kiosk menu.
If needed, the appropriate tare weight item is selected.
The weighable item is placed on the weight scale.
Final price of the item (after tare calculation) is displayed. It may then be added to the order.

Ordering Items

Procedure

Touch the kiosk home screen to begin.
Select language (if enabled).

Alternate language setup is optional.

Select the Add Non-Barcoded items and Weight Scale Items button.

If the checkbox Enable non-barcoded item in self-checkout mode is unchecked in BO, the customer will see the following dialog and select Weight Scale Item; they are then redirected to Step 5 to streamline their transaction.
This applies only when there is one weigh scale item in the Kiosk menu set.
Select the item from the menu listing.
- If prompted, select a tare weight item.
Place the item on the weigh scale to weigh it.
Select the ADD TO ORDER button to add the item to the order and return to the Checkout screen.

The selected item will now appear on order.
Select the Add Non-Barcoded items and Weight Scale Items button to add more weighable items if desired.
Select GO TO PAYMENT to process the payment and complete the order once all desired items have been added.
