Setup: Xceed - QSR

Overview

This page is designed for the Xceed version of QSR.

Please see the following page for prior QSR versions:

Setting up Volanté

QSR Xceed is the latest advanced version of the QSR software.  It was designed to take the place of previous Kitchen Printer Solutions and replace them with a monitor system, where each monitor will control and route items between each other.

This software can be used for both Table service and Fast Food service.   One of its many benefits is saving the customer on paper by using a Screen with either a Bump Bar or a Touch screen solution, and for additional flexibility, both options can be used at once.

QSR Xceed is designed to work best in Volanté Build Version 1620_0060 or higher.

Preparation

Before installing your software, it is important to understand all the hardware required for this setup.

Volanté has specialized servers intended to run the Xceed Server software for the most reliable operations.  For additional security, a second redundancy server is an asset that will allow your QSR system to stay up and running in the event of server failure.

What you need:

  • 1 Main server and an additional redundancy server (Optional)
    • These servers are supplied, built and configured by Volante Systems.  Their compact design allows them to be placed almost anywhere at the Store site, including directly behind the monitor if required.
  • 1 Xceed device per Kitchen Display Screen (KDS)
  • 1 Network Cable for the Xceed Device
  • 1 Touch Screen Monitor or Standard Monitor.
    • The recommended size is 19"  (Including all necessary communication and power cables - Touch required to be USB)
  • 1 Bump Bar device (Optional)
    • This is not required if the store site makes use of a Touch Screen.
    • For complete flexibility, both can be used at the same time.
  • Kitchen Printer - Epson TMU220B (Optional) or Receipt printer - Epson TMT88IV
    • These printers can be used to print to after an order is bumped.
    • Often they are used by the Expo to print a chit for the runner after he removes the order from the screen
    • An additional printer also be used as backup solution for printing receipts.
  • VESA Mount for the Monitor.

Edit the files located in C:\DisplayClient Stations\Station 2\Data

ConnectSmartNetwork.xml

  • Change <StationId>1</StationId> to the station you are trying to control.
  • Change <IPAddress>192.168.1.60</IPAddress> (in both locations) to be your New QSR Server information
  • QsrDisplayClient.xml - Should not require any modification.

If you are using a Demo Version you may have to  restart the kitchen server software every 2 hours to continue.

Troubleshooting

To see the monitor that the customer is looking at using the Xceed devices simply use VNC to connect to them and see the same monitor.  Loading the Display client station will conflict and is not a good idea.
