QSR - Order Ready - Updated GUI for POS and Kiosk

Overview

This document outlines GUI updates Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) solutions.  These updates are available in versions 1776_0000 and higher.

This primarily highlights the Order Ready solution.

Major Updates

SMS Texting

Customers can be notified that their orders are ready via SMS text messages.

POS – Cashier Usage

  • If input by Cashier users, they will be allowed to confirm order ready notifications via SMS.
  • Cashiers will need to confirm if the existing number is correct, or add a mobile number and save the value to an existing user in the Customer Database.
  • SMS texts will be sent automatically to the user if selected.

Kiosk – Customer Usage

Information not available at this time.

SMS Content and Telephone Number

  • The SMS message for Order Ready is set up by the customer via our QSR Kitchen Portal.
  • The message itself is customizable to an extent where you can change the wording and have access to several tags:
    • SiteName, CompanyName, CustomerName, GuestFirstName, GuestLastName, and CheckNumber
  • [QSRA] – The SMS message will be sent by a local SMS number that the customer picks from a generated list from our SMS provider Twilio via our Company Portal. They can search for available numbers based on their area code when they set this up.

Configuration

  • Accessed via Hardware > Terminal Setup > Advanced Options > "Other" section > under "Enable Team Sharing" section

  • BO/HO - hardware - terminal setup - advanced options - 'Other' section - under the 'Enable Team Sharing' - add a new checkbox called 'Customer Order Notification via SMS' - it should be turned off by default; if this setting has been turned off, no notification should pop up on POS after a payment has been made. If it has been enabled, this should pop up on the selected POS in between 2 pages: after user makes a payment and cashier getting prompted to print/send receipt.

Behavior

  • Existing functionality exists in Volante; a flag identifies items that need to go to the kitchen to get prepared.
  • For new functionality on POS - to be notified via SMS about user's order being ready should be enabled only if that flag is on for one or more menu items. Meaning, user should not be prompted to get an SMS when their order is ready if user purchased items that do not require kitchen preparation (e.g. water, apple).
