Link Menu Item Options
Menu Programming is organized into four easy steps so that it can be done quickly and efficiently. All operations follow a tree-like structure and may be controlled using the simple drag and drop motion. The 4 easy steps required for menu programming include:
Previous Step:
- 1. Add Menu Items – Creating a master list of all Menu Items in the establishment.
- 2. Set Up Option Items – Creating a master list of Options defined under Menu Options. Options being the modifiers, supplementary items, or add-ons that get associated with specific menu items.
Current Step:
- 3. Link Menu Item Options – Linking Menu Items to Pop-Up Options
Next Steps:
- 4. Menu Config Setup – Designing menu sets buttons for use on POS Terminals
Data Synch:
After completing all Menu programming steps – data synchronization of the information from the BackOffice Server to the POS Terminals is required to view menu sets on the POS terminals.

Menu Options Linking
Menu Options linking is the area where menu items are linked to option categories so that as you select a menu item a pre-defined list of options, modifiers, add-ons, or supplementary information can be attached to the menu item.
There are two types of Option Link:
- Options: A list of options are automatically displayed in a pop-up window when the linked menu item is ordered.
- Extras: Require manually retrieving a lists of options that, if required, can be added to the menu item ordered.
Create a Link
To combine Menu Items with Options you need to the link them using the Menu Options Links Tab.
- From the Menu Items list in the left window highlight the menu item that requires option linking
- From the Menu Item Options in the right window highlight the applicable category of options
- Drag the category of options into the middle window
- Options = automatically displays option list in a window pop-up
- Extras = manually request a list of options in a window pop-up

Examples

In the following example, when selecting the menu item "Burger" the system automatically adds the option "Extra Beef Patty". This system is set up to automatically require 1 option, with a maximum of 1 option and since the list of options available is only 1 than it must select the only option available.

In the following example, when selecting the menu item "Atlantic Salmon" and you must select at least 1 of the option in the list as defined by the Minimum required, and given that the Common Number is 1 it means that only 1 of each item can be selected.
Common Option
In this example, if the Pork Tenderlion menu item is selected, the system is setup so that you must select at least 1 option as defined by the Minimum required, but additionally, you can select up to 5 options per the grouping.
