Overview

This document provides high-level information about new features and improvements implemented in this release of Volanté Enterprise. In addition, any known problems, and/or bug fixes as well as deprecated functionality are noted herein.


New Features

This section covers newly added features in the build release.

Terminal Group Sharing

New features for Terminal Group Sharing introduce significant improvements that enhance communication and efficiency across terminals. These updates allow terminals in different groups to share information, facilitating smoother operations.

  • (VENT-9188 - Terminal Group Sharing)
    Terminals with the same Group Sharing ID can now communicate and broadcast messages across linked groups.
    • Allows seamless message broadcasting between different terminal groups.
    • Ensures synchronization across all linked terminals for transactions, shifts, and reports.
  • (VENT-14624 - Kitchen printing - Allow to select Printers from different terminal groups)
    Enables selection of kitchen printers from outside the terminal group for more flexible routing.
    • Printer dropdown now includes printers from other terminal groups.
    • Ensures accurate printing to kitchen printers both inside and outside the terminal group.
  • (POS-2610 - POS Terminal Group Sharing)
    Terminal sharing IDs allow groups to communicate and share information effectively.
    • Broadcasts customer transactions, employee information, and shifts across linked terminal groups.
    • Syncs reports across all terminals in the group and linked groups for comprehensive updates.

Changing Orientation

The new feature for changing screen orientation enhances user experience by allowing seamless switching between Kiosk and POS modes, improving usability.

Calories & Descriptions

New features for displaying calories and descriptions provide essential information to users, meeting regulatory requirements and enhancing the customer experience.

    Adds new fields for calories and descriptions to be displayed for items and combos.

    • Supports importing, exporting, and syncing of calorie and description data.
    • Fields available for menu configurations of items, option items, and combos.
  • (POS-4576 - Cals&Desc - Kiosk to display calories in QM and options)
    Displays caloric information on the Kiosk quick menu and options screen.

    • Calories shown at the same level as prices for items and combos.
    • Weighted items display calories "per unit" for accuracy.
  • (POS-4578 - Cals&Desc - Kiosk to display description in QM and option overlay)
    Adds a long-press feature to display item descriptions, ingredients, and allergens in an overlay.

    • Users long-press items to view detailed information in a modal.
    • Overlays also apply to options screens for more comprehensive details.
  • (POS-4579 - Cals&Desc - Kiosk to display description in options)
    Displays item descriptions in the header of the options overlay with a "see more" link.

    • Access to the detailed item description through a link in the options overlay.
    • Follows the same rules as POS-4578 for consistency in UI behavior.
  • (POS-4580 - Cals&Desc - Kiosk to display calories for sizes)
    Displays caloric information for items with different sizes in the mini size picker.

    • Calorie details are provided for items and options with various sizes.
    • Ensures accurate calorie display across all size variations.

These new features ensure regulatory compliance and provide customers with the necessary information to make informed choices.

VE Starbucks Integration/Certification - Transactions

    • Handles connection timeouts with error messages and timeout reversal requests.
    • Displays general decline errors for failed reloads.
  • (POS-4044 - GCTransaction Balance Inquiry - 0400)
    Enables users to perform balance inquiries on Starbucks gift cards.

    • Uses a lookup action to display the card balance.
    • Displays necessary fields for both transaction requests and responses.
  • (POS-4042 - GCTransaction Redemption No NSF - 0202)
    Supports the redemption of funds from gift cards with sufficient balances.

    • Handles insufficient funds with split tender prompts.
    • Voids transactions if the user declines to proceed with payment.
  • (POS-4045 - GCTransaction Cashout - 0600)
    Allows cashout transactions on gift cards, removing consumer funds from the card.

    • Submits timeout reversal requests in case of connection issues.
    • Provides error messages for declined transactions.
  • (POS-4046 - GCTransaction Void Redemption/Cashout - 0800)
    Implements the ability to void redemption or cashout transactions on gift cards.

    • Returns the charged amount to the gift card balance.
    • Displays error messages for general declines or timeouts.
  • (POS-4047 - GCTransaction Void Reload - 0801)
    Supports voiding gift card reloads.

    • Submits timeout reversal requests if the process fails.
    • Displays errors for general declines.
  • (POS-4048 - GCTransaction Void Activation - 0802)
    Reverses gift card activations, returning the card to an inactive state.

    • Prevents voiding if financial transactions have already occurred.
    • Displays connection timeout and general decline error messages.
  • (POS-4049 - GCTransaction Timeout Reversal - 0704)
    Submits timeout reversal requests when a merchant does not receive a response for gift card transactions.

    • Allows for resubmission of the original transaction after a timeout.
    • Ensures proper field mapping for timeout reversals.

  • (POS-4489 - Implementation of Timer for Starbucks Giftcard Action)
    Implements a timer for all gift card actions on the POS system.
    • Includes the option for multiple server URLs, ensuring redundancy.
    • Provides error messaging to inform users of processing timeouts.
  • (POS-4427 - Timeout for Giftcard Charge - Starbucks - Required for Certification)
    Introduces a 35-second timer for gift card charges, crucial for certification.
    • Aligns with other certified payment systems like Freedom Pay.
    • Ensures consistent and timely processing of transactions.
  • (POS-4504 - Datawire SRS Implementation)

    • Provides translation keys for error codes.
    • Ensures certification by validating all error mappings.
  • (POS-4212 - TPI Giftcard Overtender Payment to be considered as TIP always)
    Considers any over-tender payment from gift cards as a tip, except in cashout operations.
    • Simplifies tip processing for third-party gift cards.
    • Automatically adjusts the tip if the gift card is removed.

These new features improve transaction reliability, user control, and system certification, making gift card processing more efficient.

QSR Integration - Infrastructure

Introducing new features for QSR integration infrastructure brings enhanced functionality and improved user experience for managing third-party integrations within quick service restaurant (QSR) environments.

    This feature allows the addition of a new group type in the GetIntegrationConfig API result.

    • A new "Terminal Group" type is added, with a selector modal allowing users to add terminal groups.
    • Terminals can only be added once a terminal group is in place, ensuring better organization and functionality.
  • (VENT-13951 - Hide QSR if Feature Flag is Disabled)
    This update introduces the ability to hide QSR integration when the relevant feature flag is disabled.

    • The system hides the QSR option in all areas where it appears if the feature flag is turned off.
    • Ensures flexibility in displaying or hiding QSR integrations based on system configurations.
  • (VENT-14173 - Deletion of Terminal Group from Hardware Management Should Delete All Dependencies from TPI)
    This feature automates the deletion of terminal group dependencies from the Third Party Integration when removed from hardware management.

    • Prompts users with the option to view and confirm deletion of all TPI dependencies.
    • Ensures seamless management by removing all related dependencies from the system in one action.

These new features improve system control and management, making integration and hardware configuration more efficient for QSR operators.

    • Options include sending on total, on the fly, or on payment.
    • Enhances control over how orders are sent to the kitchen.
  • (VENT-13999 - Setting - "Option Items Don’t Follow Parent Routing" inside Service Type)
    Adds a checkbox to control whether option items follow parent item routing in KDS.

    • Provides flexibility for routing option items to different kitchen stations.
    • Default routing follows parent item, but this setting allows independent routing for specific scenarios.
  • (VENT-14118 - New Button "Collect Phone" in Transaction Panel)
    Adds a new "Collect Phone" button in the transaction panel for phone number input.

    • Supports SMS notifications for order readiness in QSR systems.
    • Allows customization of button appearance, including color and font settings.
  • (POS-3324 - [Only BE] Sending to KDS (With Printer Flow))
    Treats KDS like a printer for smoother communication.

    Allows items with multiple printer types to be assigned a single Department ID for QSR.

    • A multi-select printer type dropdown enables assigning one Department ID to multiple printer types.
    • Ensures that items with multiple printer types are routed correctly based on the best match.
  • (POS-3854 - [QA Only] Implementation of the QSR Integration Plugin)

    Enables kiosks to override the POS Quick Menu if a Kiosk-specific QM is available in Hardware Management.

    • If a Kiosk QM is present, it overrides the default POS QM.
    • If no Kiosk QM is assigned, the system defaults to the POS Quick Menu.
  • (POS-4599 - Kiosk - Exiting the transaction voids all and prints to kitchen the voids chits)
    Ensures that if a kiosk transaction is exited before completion, all items and payments are voided, and void chits are printed in the kitchen.

    • Automatically voids incomplete or timed-out transactions.
    • Sends void slips to the kitchen for record-keeping.
