Setting up a Promo Code
With promo codes, you are able to restrict what restaurants are applied to promos created.
Promotions modify the pricing of the cart, not individual items.
Promo codes are configured in BackOffice first, then they are created in Volante Eats so they are active and visible to customers.
Setting up the Promo in Volante Eats
To create a new promo in Volante Eats:
Navigate to Marketing > Promotions.
Click New, then select a restaurant from the drop-down list. You must select ONE restaurant only unless it's an enterprise-wide discount. If it is, you must ensure that all locations have correct setup to apply the promo code.
The New Promotions page displays.
Complete the following fields:
Name: Enter a name for your promotion.
Brief Description: Enter a brief description.
Restaurant: Select your restaurant from the drop-down list.
External ID: Enter the External ID. The External ID is the same ID as the Price Modifier ID and the price modifier id type.
The format is as follows:
Example: PriceModifierID , 1 (BillMod) or 2 (PaymentMethod) > 12000034,2NOTE: Make sure to include the comma followed by 1 or 2 (to indicate BillMod or PaymentMethod)
Promotion Apply Type: Select Cart-Based Promotion. Notes: The Delivery Fee promotion automatically applies to your cart so it is not necessary to select it. Do not select Product-Based Promotion.
Coupon Code: Enter a coupon code that you will be sharing with customers.
The coupon code is applied on the checkout screen in the apply coupon field.
The Coupon code is case-sensitive.Image (Optional): Select an image to associate with your promotion.
Once Per Customer/ Only on First Order: Select if you want to apply the promo to be applied only once per customer, or only on the first customer order. This is tracked per Restaurant Filter Type (once for all selected restaurants/restaurant groups). If you need one per restaurant, you’ll have to make a separate promo per restaurant.
Order Methods: Select the order method(s) you would like to be applied to your promo.
Store Type: Select a store type. You may select a series of restaurants or restaurant groups.
Start Time, End Time: Select a period the promotion will be applied.
Min. cart subtotal (Optional): You can enter a minimum of items/amounts that must be added to the cart before a customer can use the promo code.
Discount type: Select the discount type.
Discount value: Enter the discount value.
Sort Order: Enter a sort order, i.e., the order in which the promotions are listed.
Status: Select Active to activate the promo, or Inactive to keep the promo inactive/not functional.
Click Add.
Your new promotion will display in the Promotion list.
Setting up the Promo in BackOffice
To configure the promo code in BackOffice:
Only supports Bill and payment method discounts.
The discounts should only be able to apply 1 per transaction and once per item as per the extra settings.
Points requiring discounts are not supported in this fashion.
